MILTON – Leona J. (Gonyo) Turner, 74, of Milton, passed away peacefully beside her loving family in the Vermont Respite House of Williston on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010. She was born on Jan. 10, 1936 in Alburg. She was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed and remembered with love by all for her kindness and quick wit. Leona was a member of V.F.W. Post 782. Leona was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Edith (Chagnon) Gonyo; sisters, Bernadette Blow and Gloria McGraw; brother, Leon Gonyo; her loving husband, Edward Turner; and beloved son, Scott Turner. Leona is survived by her daughter, Karen and husband, Donald Pidgeon; son, Edward Turner, Jr. (Skip) and his longtime partner, Noreen Nichols and her children; grandchildren, Joey and Randi Lee Beaupre, and Jessica, Samantha and Jacob Turner; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, four sisters and their families. A special thanks to her devoted nieces, Val and Lynn. The family sincerely thanks all of the wonderful staff at the VT Respite House for all they did to make Leona happy and comfortable during the last five months.
