age 79, passed away Sept. 17, 2009. He was born Feb. 5, 1930, in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., to Samuel E. and Gladys Hinote Shelley.
Mr. Shelley was a resident of Walton County, Florida. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Northside Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. He worked as an Electronic Technician for 37 years with Vitro. He loved fishing and hunting and was an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, and he was very talented at telling stories, especially to his grandchildren.
Mr. Shelley was preceded in death by his father and mother and one brother, J.S. Shelley.
Mr. Shelley is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth G. Shelley of DeFuniak Springs; four daughters, Cindi Anderson and husband Sam of Kinston, Ala., Bonnie Ard and husband Ronnie of Samson, Ala., Laura Peterson and husband Steven of DeFuniak Springs, and Renita White and husband Mike of DeFuniak Springs; one sister, Agatha Davis of Appleton, Wis. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Mark Jones, Terra Jones and fiancé Jeremy Free, Travis Parker and fiancé Brandy Barker, Kevin Prater and wife Lisa, Heidi Laing and husband Pete and Brandon White; and 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kenadee, Tanner, Sophie, Randall Preston, Keaton, Cierra, Kayden, Sebastian and Harley.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Wright officiating and Eulogy by Ronnie Ard.
Burial will follow in the Crowder Chapel Cemetery.
